Episode 1

So did we all tune in?! I did, and watched it with my mum, who equally enjoyed it! She loved the gags and Reece as Mr Jelly! :D

Looks like the chaps have had some v positive reviews and write ups, which is just excellent and very well deserved! Onto Ep 2 next week.

Re: Episode 1

The only negative reviews I've seen were written by people who apparently want everything to be right there on a platter. It seems they're unable to grasp the subtlety, suspense and thrill. It's a friggin' mystery/thriller/comedy twist for crying out loud; absolutely hilarious, so far, but still a mystery. Gods forbid we are forced to pay attention to anything. Geesh…

*breathes erratically*

Oh and yes, I've seen the first episode. I apologise to Mr Shearsmith for not "just wait"ing but well – hell, I've no excuse-- One does what one must, even if it means selling ‘smack’ on the corner (Totally did not do that, but if I had to… I don’t know. *shifts eyes*)

Every... Single ... second of the ep was/is spectacular. There were points at which I was unsure of whether to burst into laughter or curl into a ball and weep. In my opinion, it was a great introduction to the series, but who am I to say anything? ;-)

Jelly is every friggin' birthday party I'd attended as a child – beautifully frightening as hell.

Mr. Lomax and "Tea-Leaf" are absolutely magnificent. Nearly every great suspense/mystery/thriller has a line like the one in Lomax's “Holy of Holies” – Loved it.

Maureen and David – what can I say? Unnerving, demented... brought tears to my eyes and a maniacal laugh to my throat.

I've said this elsewhere, but what the hell? Groundbreaking, unique, hilarious -- these words do no justice.... Cannot wait for the rest. I'm on pins and needles.

Re: Episode 1

I've seen it as well. Most of the reviews are very positive. And in one of them, I read the words 'cult hit'. I think, it could be one.

It is an excellent work of Reece and Steve. They created a masterpiece. the first episode is so hilarious that I want to find out what happens next, what they all did and who the mysterious blackmailer is. I enjoyed every second of it. Sometimes I wasn't so sure, if I should find it funny or scary. It is the perfect mixture of comedy and thriller.

My favourite character so far is definitely Mr Jelly. He is so frightening and brilliantly played by Reece. And the voice is picked so well, it fits perfect.

I can't believe that I have to wait a whole week for the next episode. It sounds so long.

Re: Episode 1

Yeah a couple of reviews have been like that... but mainly all I've read has been glowing!

According to CC on www.thisisalocalshop.com, Psychoville pulled in 1.4 million viewers last night!

Re: Episode 1

Not too shabby a'tall... ;)

Well, to me -- although I have loved and will always love TLoG -- from what I've seen thus far, I'm leaning towards agreeing with our Mr Shearsmitz; it could possibly be their best work yet. There is no doubt that it will either keep a steady positive momentum or perhaps pick up some more, even but I don't see it losing any flavour.

Earlier, I showed the first ep to a friend, and he was left speechless. Throughout it, he'd randomly turn his head and stare at me all wide-eyed as if to say "What the holy hell is this?!"

Afterward, he simply gaped at me completely dumbfounded. All he could say was "Mellie, I never thought I'd hate American television as much as I do at this very moment."

Yep, yep -- once again, I win the "I'm always right" game! :P

I'm sure the boys are over-the-moon about the reception the first 2 eps have received. They truly deserve this.

WOW! Mel you must post about your friend's reaction on LS! That is such a compliment to Reece and Steve! :D

Re: Episode 1

I loved it. Mr Jelly's my favourite at the moment. Felt sorry for Robert in this episode, he just wanted the girl. Maureen and David are very very creepy.

I think so too. The only thing that differs him from others is his telekinesis.

Re: Episode 1

You know, I adore Robert -- it's just that's been the most difficult for me to watch. The rest are fantastic and beautifully strange, but Robert's story is very real; the blind, unrequited love and humiliation. I don't know... I guess his is the story that actually upsets me to the point of wanting to turn away. *shrugs* But that's what makes the show fantastic. There are sooo many different elements there, ranging from incredibly demented to unbelievably real and heart wrenching.

Yes his story is so sad... :( And all too familiar I'm afraid *has experience of liking not very nice people..*

I watched Ep 1 on iPlayer yesterday and think Holly is so like her dad The face she pulled when she sat down and when he talks about eyes coming up like "a red egg" - it was one of his expressions! So cute.

Yes, that's so true. It looks so like him. And she looks so frightened of him. I think, she is a really good actress. Perhaps she has inherited the talent of her father.

Yeah...I can relate to that story more than I'd care to admit.

*laughs* That expression is what really set off the alarms. She has his facial features, but the expression is what made me go "Ahhhh, I see now."

She did extremely well.
